Medina Bridge Works and Emergency vehicles
Dear passengers the essential structural works for Medina Way Bridge in Newport will start to take place from the end of September for 6 months. Please refer to Island Roads Website article.
This is expected to put pressure on the surrounding road network and at times the Floating Bridge service will be busy. There may also be an increase in emergency vehicles using our service. Emergency vehicles on blue lights are given priority once an emergency vehicle with blue lights has been loaded the service will commence a crossing without further loading please do not attempt to board as this causes delays that may be critical for a person in need.
Non emergency vehicles such as NHS patient transport will be loaded as priority and they are expected to pass traffic waiting in the queue however other vehicles and foot passengers will also be allowed to board as per normal. NHS patient transport has been given priority during these roadworks as delays in patient transport result in delays at AnE.
We appreciate your patience and compassion if you are in the queue and are delayed.
